Letter from Castle DraculaThe newsbullettin of The Transylvanian Society of DraculaJune 2006 |
FRIENDS and FOES of the COUNT,
Welcome to a CONTEST of ideas for scripts - for a television serial provisorily entitled “101 Missing Pins”. This Contest is a copyright of the Transylvanian Society of Dracula, along the pilot episode, that follows.
The best original ideas for scripts, or scripts, will be purchased and turned into professional scripts (later - into short stories).
Here is the pilot-episode (No. 1):
The Count of Dracula, in his remote castle in the Borgo Pass, Transylvania, Romania - decided to donate a heavy silver candle-stick to his Transylvanian Society of Dracula, to be melted and turned into silver pins shaped like a “dragon-D” (D for Dracula) , for friends and foes alike, for the TSD members.
The heavy silver candle-stick was taken deep into the alchemy laboratory of the castle, the fires were started , then the pins handmade in the hundreds.
A boy helping with the coal and fire-wood pocketed a handful of pins, went upstairs to the gate of the castle and sold them, a dollar a piece, to passing tourists.
Being made of a candle-stick of the Count, the pins are, naturally, a little magic (not much). Their owners are either indifferent, or afraid, or enchanted. Thus, if the owner looks around for match, or a lighter, he finds his cigarette burning all right.
The Count notices the disappearance of a number of pins and looks at a magic globe, to see them shining in different parts of the world. He calls his Transylvanian Society of Dracula and orders the recuperation of the missing pins. Each recuperation becomes an episode in the TV serial. It can be adventurous, humorous, magical, detective - because you cannot just go and snatch the pin from the lapel or the box of the owner (the police would arrest you), so schemes need to be devised for each recuperation.
Aside from 1-2 actors who will feature permanently (the TSD envoy), the rest of the actors will be local. A country may room one or more episodes.
The scripts could be set in own country, or elsewhere. One person may enter one original idea for script, or more.
The ideas for scripts, or full scripts (or short stories passing for ideas for scripts) will be maximum 13 pages long.
The Contest begins on July 1, 2006 and ends 13 months later. Please accompany your idea for script, or script, or short story, with a c/v half a page long and full address.
Please send your original idea for script, or script, or short story, by e-mail to:
