Through the twentieth century, to the present, Dracula has been translater into a number of languages. Only two such editions, one in Icelandic and one in German, appeared during Stoker's lifetime, but in the 1920s, editions appeared in French, Italian, and Spanish. There was a dramatic increase in the number of translations after Dracula went into the public domain in the 1960s, due in part to the popularity of the title character in the movies and in part to the use of Dracula as a reader for the teachings of English. A new wave of editions appeared in 1979 when the Frank Langella Dracula was releaswed.
A number of translations into Eastern European languages were made in the 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. These were partially inspired by the 1992 release of Francis Ford Coppola's movie, Bram Stoker's Dracula. Since the beginning of the new century, editions have appeared in Russian, Ukrainian, and most recently in Chinese.
The list below is organized by language rather than country. Thus, editions from South Ameirca and from Spain will be found under Spanish, and a similar arrangement was made for Portuguese editions. French editions include those published in Belgium, Switzerland, and Quebec.
In editions to the full translations of Dracula, where applicable we have listed the abridged editions, both those issued for the juvenile market and those for teaching language, and the graphic arts comics editions.
The compiler of this list is most interested in learning of other editions of Dracula in additional languages. Information on such editions may be sent to jgordon@rain.org.

The first translation of Dracula after World War I was the 1920 translation by Eve and Lucie Paul-Marguerite. It was translated on several occasions over the next half century and has continued to appear to the present time. The second translation, by Lucienne Molitor, first published in Belgium, appeared in 1963, and has been reprinted the most times. A newer translation, by Jacque Finné, was published in 1979. The first Swiss edition in French (Molitor translation) appeared in 1968 and the first French Canadian edition in 1976.

This initial translaton of Dracula was the first one made during Stokers life. It is an abridged edition translated by Valdimar Asmundsson for the publisher Nokkrir Prentarar. It is of primary interest as Stoker yeilded to Prentarar's request that he write a new preface for it. An English translation of that preface first appeared in The Bram Stoker Society Journal 5 (1993): 7-8.
