The Queensland primary school which banned Harry Potter books from its library shelves says it has been widely praised for its stance.
The Christian Outreach College at Nambour on the Sunshine Coast believes the phenomenally successful books, written by JK Rowling, are dangerous to young and impressionable minds.
The school's senior pastor Dr Chas Gullo says that although academics and parent groups have attacked the move, the school has had heaps of praise from around Australia for its stance.
Dr Gullo says he believes the Harry Potter books are excellent literature, but more suitable for high school students.
However, Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens Association's president Garry Cislowski says he can't understand the school's stance because the books are pure fantasy.
